Bread Financial Comenity Bank waives credit card fees system outage
Bread Financial Comenity Bank waives credit card fees due to a system outage. Due to a system update, some Bread Financial customers can’t get to their credit card accounts online or by phone.
Columbus-based Alliance Data manages 130 private-label and co-branded credit card programs for the NFL, Victoria’s Secret, Ulta Beauty, and Kay Jewelers.
Customers with Victoria’s Secret, Ulta, IKEA, Sephora, and other cards have complained on Twitter. Late fees and credit scores worry them.

Justin Sparks, 24, had trouble logging into his PlayStation rewards card account June 23–30.
Sparks told The Dispatch he wasn’t notified of the update. “I checked Twitter to see what was going on and saw many people having the same problems.”
Comenity Bank and Comenity Capital Bank have been tweeting updates since Monday. Saturday was my last tweet.
“We’re waiving late fees for customers whose payment due date fell between June 27 and July 2.” If outages continue, so will the late fee waiver. “Nonpayment won’t affect credit scores.” “EasyPay allows payments.”
Victoria’s Secret confirmed that Bread Financial would not charge late fees or tell credit agencies about late payments.
“We know the recent outage has been frustrating for customers, and we’re working with Bread Financial and Comenity Bank to resolve any issues,” a spokesperson said.
Bread Financial confirmed the fee waiver and acknowledged customers’ frustrations. Customers can make payments, check balances, and service accounts using the AVRS.
A spokesperson said that Bread Financial is addressing issues that have impacted customer service. We’re working to restore service as soon as possible and apologize for any inconvenience. We’ll work to help cardholders affected by the outage.
Customers were upset that they couldn’t get into their EasyPay accounts or pay their bills on Saturday morning.
